The "Ecstasy" category is misleading and annoying. Look at the product list. Ecstasy is the only one in which a street name (with all the misinformation and connotation attached) in the list. Then it breaks down into various sub categories. I personally don't consider anything that isn't MDMA ecstasy and certainly not shit like mephedrone or some of the other stuff listed under the category.
In general, I think it's better not to use the street names for products for exactly this reason. "Ecstasy" can be mean 100 different things, but the chemical name MDMA can only be one.

I totally agree.
We should stick to the chemical names.

Why not change section name to MDMA and pills and research chemicals under MDMA.
Everyone that goes to Ecstasy is looking for MDMA anyway.

When I think ecstasy I think MDMA. If I was told I was getting E and it ended up being methylone or any other research chem I would be livid. I can understand that many E pills contain substances in addition to MDMA but what makes ecstasy ecstasy is the MDMA. Maybe create a new 'research chemical' category for those that don't fit neatly into other categories? (ie stimulants, psychedelics etc) Not sure where methylone etc would go otherwise but it sure doesn't seem to belong in the 'ecstasy' category.

Hmm, well I think the problem there is that if I were looking for pills and RCs, I wouldn't click MDMA. That's even worse than having them under Ecstasy, yeah?
I think just a separate category for RCs either under the name Research Chemicals or something.
And reiterate again to use the standard chemical abbreviations instead of street names

Agreed.

Thank you for this thread! I never took ecstasy before and I for one was surely confused with this category! I knew the official name was MDMA but there is methylone listed and I was like what the heck is that. I looked it up and its not ecstasy/MDMA anyway. I would of been pissed if I would of ordered it!

But then you have MDA. To me ecstasy has always meant MDMA and or MDA.
Just from talking to people IRL, I've recently learned that most people I know consider "E" to represent a pill that makes you "roll". It may or may not contain MDMA (MDMA/MDA being the preferred ingredient), and none of them have a reasonable clue about the differences between any of these compounds are.
Regardless of how it was in the 90's, or how it technically should be, I think the current heading is appropriate.
I would like to see homemade gel capsules exluded from the "pills" section. Gelcaps containing mdma should be under MDMA. Maybe relabel "pills" to "presses".

Ultimately it's up to the buyer to research whatever they're buying. So if I buy methylone I already know what it is because I've read a dozen trip reports and know what to expect and how much to dose, etc. I think it's fine the way it is now. I'm not gonna buy butylone thinking it's going to be just as good as MDMA because it's under the Ecstasy category.

ya that extra click to the MDMA subcategory must be agonizing

What I was thinking.
It's fine the way it is, I was pissed when I saw 5-6-APB listed under it though.

I'm pretty sure that when I made this post nearly a year ago there wasn't a separate MDMA subcategory.

oh your right.
Good job to whoever bumped a year old post

The point was about accuracy rather than effort anyway. If I ask for ecstasy and I get something other than MDMA, I'm unhappy. Which is why I also suggested using chemical names rather than ambiguous street names like "ecstasy"...

And history is on my side. For years "ecstasy" meant one thing and one thing only: MDMA

Totally. But things have changed, just like there are no more slaves in the US. Oh wait......
Nice avatar. :)
